We not only want to preserve the Earth as it is, but are also seeking ways of improving living conditions on our planet. With our products, activities and technologies, we contribute daily to the realization of this vision.
Climate protection is a major talking point worldwide and will have a major impact on our future. The goals for the reduction of climatically harmful greenhouse gas CO2 are laid down in the Kyoto Protocol. Mitsubishi Electric has had a tradition of reducing CO2 emissions with advanced technology and highly energy-efficient products and is extending this commitment into the future in its Environmental Initiative 2021. Here, the company commits itself to long-term climate protection with the goal of achieving a 30% global reduction in CO2 emissions by the year 2021. By this it means CO2 emissions in both production and product use. In addition, we are aiming for improvements in environmentally friendly energy generation, such as with hypermodern solar power plants, as well as for the complete exclusion of non-recyclable materials from production. But that, of course, is not all, because we shall also continue to devote ourselves to the development of further innovative products, e.g. inverter air conditioning systems and Zubadan heat pumps – for the sake of the environment.
Specifically, this means:

We aim to lessen the negative impact of our products and activities on the environment. We therefore develop environmentally compatible technologies and processes. Products are assessed accordingly, and our facilities encourage efficiency and the preservation and recycling of our resources.

We undertake to identify environmental problems and contribute to a universal awareness that integrates our business activities in the natural cycle.
3.
Our employees are environmentally conscious and autonomous individuals who are committed to protecting the environment.
Environmental action in Germany
The German branch of Mitsubishi Electric Europe B.V. is a sales and support organization for the marketing of the products of our parent company, the Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. In accordance with this task, we do not operate our own Environmental Management System to ISO 14001 at our branch. Instead, ISO 14001 certification has been obtained by the plants and R&D facilities in Japan and other countries, and we supply you, our customers, with their products.

The German branch of Mitsubishi Electric Europe B.V. is a founder member of the German foundation for the electrical/electronic waste register based in Fürth, which is in charge of the implementation of the Electrical/Electronic Equipment Act. We act in accordance with the Directives 95/2002/EC (restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment) and 96/2002/EC ES/WEEE (collection and recycling of electrical and electronic waste).
