How soon does the investment in the heat pump pay off?
For reliable details that take account of the quality of the fabric and insulation of your house, please consult a specialist installer.

How expensive is maintenance?
The annual maintenance costs come to roughly 1% of the investment.

I don't want to get rid of my existing system (oil, gas, pellets) yet. Can I integrate Zubadan in my heating system with its existing hot water storage tank?
I don't want to get rid of my existing system (oil, gas, pellets) yet. Can I integrate Zubadan in my heating system with its existing hot water storage tank?

How much does heating with a heat pump cost compared to an oil or gas heater?
You can find the answer to your question here.

Is it advisable to ask about special rates for heat pumps?
Yes, your regional energy supplier may offer attractive rates for heat pumps enabling you to cut your bill by up to 50%. Make sure you stick to the specified electricity supply periods.

Installation>> Installation

Is an immersion heater necessary?
No, Zubadan heat pumps do not need an electric immersion heater. Thanks to Zubadan technology, capacity can be kept constant down to as low as -15°C, which makes supplementary heating with an immersion heater unnecessary.

Is a heat pump only suitable for underfloor heating?
No, any heating system can be operated with the Zubadan heat pump. Zubadan heat pumps achieve flow temperatures of up to 60°C and are thus also suitable for old radiators - ideal for modernized existing buildings.
Our tip: The lower the flow temperature, the more efficiently the heat pump operates. It may be necessary to improve the insulation of your house so that you can lower the flow temperature. As a rule of thumb, lowering the flow temperature by 1°C yields 2.5% energy savings.

How much space does a heat pump take up?
943 x 330 x 1350 mm (W/D/H)

Can I retrofit a heat pump in my house?
Yes, very easily. The connection pipes between the indoor and outdoor units can be fed through a 6 cm diameter hole in the building. And there's space for the compact outdoor unit even on the smallest property.

What kind of plate heat exchanger do I need?
We recommend the ACH 50/50 plate heat exchanger from Alfa Laval, as all our data are based on measurements with this unit.

Do I have to obtain a permit for the heat pump?
No, Zubadan heat pumps do not require an official permit. Only brine and groundwater heat pumps that require elaborate borehole drilling require official permission.

Maintenance>> Maintenance

Does the unit have to be regularly maintained?
Yes. Under EC Regulation 842/2006, Zubadan heat pumps in a split design have to be checked once per year for refrigerant loss.

How expensive is maintenance?
The annual maintenance costs come to roughly 1% of the investment.

How long is a heat pump's service life?
A regularly maintained heat pump will heat safely and reliably for decades.

Funding>> Funding

What funding is available?
There are a large number of national and regional funding schemes that you can make use of for your Zubadan heat pump. You can find further information here..

Is the installation of a calorimeter necessary for the heat pump if I claim funding?
Yes. To obtain funding from the BAFA, for instance, a calorimeter has to be installed. A separate electricity meter is also required for the heat pump. The advantage of this is that you can check the efficiency of your heat pump yourself at any time.

What funding is available and where can I apply for it?
At present, there are about 800 funding schemes for heat pumps from energy suppliers and national, regional and local authorities in Germany.

Technical data>> Technical data

How noisy is the heat pump?
It isn't. If you stand a metre away from a Zubadan heat pump, the noise level is somewhere between that of a library and a normal conversation.

What water temperatures can be achieved?
Thanks to their patented flash injection technology, Zubadan heat pumps can achieve flow temperatures of 60°C - entirely without supplementary electric heating.

What coefficients of performance (COP) are possible?
Greater than 4 is absolutely within the bounds of possibility. It depends on the operating temperatures of the Zubadan heat pump. Please note: The greater the temperature difference (or lift) between the heat source and its destination, the poorer the COP.

Coefficient of performance (COP)
Like the efficiency of a heating system, the coefficient of performance describes the ratio of energy input to energy gain.

What is the annual COP of the Zubadan heat pump?
This varies from building to building. You can easily calculate the annual COP yourself after the first year of operation. Divide the heat energy gain (read off the calorimeter) by the electrical energy input (read off the electricity meter) to obtain the COP.

Technical questions>> Technical questions

Is it better to have a heat pump with or without inverter technology?
Inverter-controlled heat pumps are superior to conventional "on/off" heat pumps. Since a building's heat requirements change over the course of a year, "on/off" heat pumps are frequently overscaled, switching themselves on to meet minimal needs and consuming as much energy as when running at full load. Inverter-controlled heat pumps like the Zubadan scale capacity to actual demand. This saves electricity and money and is kinder to the environment.

Can I use the existing drinking water tank of my old oil heater as a hot water storage tank for the Zubadan?
Yes, this is possible depending on its age and condition. Your heating specialist can advise you and weigh up the pros and cons. Get in touch with us. .

Is a hot water storage tank at all necessary?
This depends on the configuration of the system. If the special heat pump rate restricts you to certain electricity supply periods, a water storage tank is advisable to bridge the periods offline. Your heating specialist can advise you. Get in touch with us.

Can I use my existing radiator in summer for cooling?
Theoretically you can. However, caution is advised. If the water temperature you set is too low, condensation will form on the radiators. The radiators' surface area may also be insufficient to noticeably cool the room air.
Our tip: Use air handling units in cooling mode. They are more efficient and more powerful and can additionally dehumidify the room air.

Isn't the heat pump just another form of electric heater?
The heat pump only needs a small share of drive energy of about 25% from the power grid. The remaining heat of about 75% is obtained from the ambient air.

Can the heat pump also be used to produce hot water?
Yes, thanks to the high flow temperatures of up to 60°C, hot water heating is also possible.

Can I cool the house in summer as well?
Yes, if the system is configured accordingly, cooling is also possible. Ideal for this are air handling units in cooling mode.

Which heat distribution systems can I operate with heat pumps?
Any.
